Keep it Short

This semester we will read a number of short stories.  The short story is a wonderful medium for the telling of great stories in a form that can be read all in one setting.  This week we will be reading two short stories.  The Most Dangerous Game by Richard Connell and The Necklace by Guy de Maupassant.

The Most Dangerous Game is a breed story that describes what happens when a man falls off a yacht and must swim to a Caribbean island to survive.  Once on the island the man is horrified to find that a Russian aristocrat uses the island to hunt people, and he is next!

The Necklace describes a woman who is dissatisfied with her social standing and believes her status can be improved with better clothes, jewelry, etc.  Her pursuit leads to tragedy and ultimately a shocking twist. Enjoy!

Comment on which story you prefer and why.
